Tennessee and Auburn players receive weekly SEC Soccer honors

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has unveiled its weekly awards for women’s soccer. Two players from Tennessee and one from Auburn received the honors.

SEC Offensive Player of the Week – Tennessee forward Jaida Thomas, a freshman from Irving, Texas, scored five goals and had an assist in wins over Gardner-Webb and at Appalachian State. Thomas scored her first career hat trick against Gardner-Webb in its 2021 spring opener. All three goals came within a 15-minute span. She had her second consecutive multi-goal performance against App State, scoring Tennessee’s first two goals of the afternoon.

SEC Defensive Player of the Week – Tennessee goalkeeper Lindsey Romig, a sophomore from Midlothian, Va., had her second-straight solo shutout in Tennessee’s 7-0 win at App State, playing all 90 minutes and making three saves on the afternoon. She made six saves in the season-opening win against Gardner-Webb.

SEC Freshman of the Week – Auburn midfielder Anna Haddock, a freshman from Bowling Green, Ky., assisted on four of Auburn’s five goals in its spring opener against Kennesaw State. Her four assists tied a school record and are the most by an Auburn player since 1999. Haddock’s performance helped Auburn record its most goals in a contest since 2018.
