Katie Cousins commits to Tennessee

Katie Cousins plans to be a Volunteer.
Cousins, who plays up on the Richmond Kickers Elite’s Under-17 team and featured recently by soccerwire.com as a player to watch, has announced that she will play her college soccer at the University of Tennessee under coach Brian Pensky beginning in the fall of 2015.
Pensky was the former coach at the University of Maryland before being lured over the winter to coach at Tennessee.
When I talked to her coach, Rob Ukrop, earlier this year, he said she has the potential to be a game-changer on the U.S. women’s national team.
“She has the ability to change the tempo of a game, dictates whether we go forward or whether we’re going to play back,” Ukrop said at the time. “She thinks like a professional player in terms of her decision-making. She’s built like a professional player. She’s small, but she plays big.”
