MSSA Cups: Rowland final set for this Sunday between Maryland Bays and Screaming Eagles
The Maryland Bays and the Screaming Eagles will contend for a spot into the US Open Cup when they meet each other in the final of the Rowland Cup on Sunday. The championship match kicks off at 11:00 at Howard High School.
The Bays look to defend the title against the Eagles, who are making their first appearance in this Cup. The winner will represent Maryland in the USASA Region I qualifiers of the Open Cup. The Rowland Cup will celebrate 100 years next season as the first title was played in 1914.
In Stewart Cup action, the Bays drubbed Looney’s Pub North 9:0 to earn a spot in the semifinals, where they will meet Christos FC on March 13. The other semifinal was played Sunday between Pipeline SC Majors and ASA Charm City FC. The match was extended into extra time and ended 2:2. The penalty round was just as close with Charm City taking the edge 5:4 to make it to the final. They will play the winner between the Bays and Christos on March 24 to determine the Maryland entry for the US Amateur Cup.
