SoccerWire.com has confirmed with multiple sources that Fredericksburg, Va. will be the site of the 2017 and 2018 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships following a successful bid by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association.
The news originally broke over social media on Jan. 16 following a Region I meeting at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia.

VYSA will host the event at the new Virginia Soccer Training Center along with two other field locations in Fredericksburg. VYSA held a grand opening for the Training Center in November 2014 for the U-15 to U-18 Virginia State Cup Finals. Upon completion of the ongoing construction, the facility will include nine full-size turf and Bermuda grass fields including a stadium field, two small-sided fields, two centrally located warm up areas and an administration building. The complex shares a parking lot with local club Fredericksburg FC (formerly FASA), which led the way in acquiring the land from local developers. FASA Park, recently re-named Fredericksburg FC Park following the club’s re-branding in 2014, opened its fields for use in 2013.
