Boston College blanked by No. 2 Connecticut 2-0 in makeup match
It has been a difficult two weeks for the Boston College Eagles (2-3-1), who have now scored just one goal in their last three game after losing 2-0 to the second-ranked Connecticut Huskies (6-0-1) Wednesday night in a match rescheduled from the night before.
UConn received two goals from junior forward Mamadou Diouf, his fifth and sixth already this season. Diouf was voted BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and is living up to the billing, now tied for second in the NCAA in total goals.
While Diouf led UConn’s offense with an 11th minute goal and a penalty in the 74th, the Huskies’ defense shut down Boston College limiting the Eagles to three shots on goal. It was the third time in six games this season Boston College has been shut out. The team’s only multi-goal performance of the year came on opening weekend in a 2-1 win over Quinnipac.
Boston College will return home for its next three matches, beginning with two more non-conference games against San Francisco and Rhode Island, and concluding with a big ACC match-up with N.C. State.
The Eagles face San Franisco Saturday at 1 p.m. in their next match. Live Stats.
